Focus on the outcomes when recruiting

Often we get so bogged down in the day to day grind, that years can go by and we will not step and evaluate our recruiting process as a whole.  If you get into the management “geekdom” you will read a great deal about focusing on the outcomes, then working your way back.  Develop a list of questions like,

“Who is our ideal employee for this position?”

“What is the job description?”

“What kind of person would best fit the job description?”

“What is the best way to find this person?”

These are simple questions, but in talking to other employers, it always suprises me how many people do not go through these steps because, “they are only hiring teenagers”.  Here is one article on how this has worked: Keep the focus on outcomes
